About LeashTrainingDog.com
LeashTrainingDog.com was founded by Sarah Mitchell, a certified professional dog trainer who has spent over 12 years helping dog owners transform frustrating walks into enjoyable experiences.
About Sarah Mitchell
Sarah discovered her passion for dog training after adopting a reactive Border Collie named Scout at age 24. Scout pulled constantly, lunged at other dogs, and made every walk a battle. After working with three different trainers with limited results, Sarah decided to study dog behavior and training methodology herself.
What began as a personal mission became a career. Sarah completed her certification through the Association of Professional Dog Trainers and went on to study under several leading behaviorists specializing in positive reinforcement methods.
Over the past 12 years, she has worked with:
- More than 500 dogs across all major breeds and mixed breeds
- Dogs ranging from 8-week-old puppies to 11-year-old adults learning new skills
- Reactive dogs, fearful dogs, and dogs with established pulling habits
- Owners who had tried and failed with multiple previous training approaches
Our Approach
Every guide on LeashTrainingDog.com is based on force-free, positive reinforcement methodology. We do not recommend prong collars, shock collars, or punishment-based techniques.
The science of dog learning is clear: dogs learn fastest and retain skills longest when training is built on reward and consistency rather than correction and fear.
